Large Groups Can Now Enjoy The Game Competitively
Download as PDF New York, NY – February 21, 2011. Thousands of New Yorkers have been enjoying a new way to explore their city, by way of New York: The Game, a scavenger hunt that’s also a tour. But now Stray Boots is taking its “Scavenger Hunt Tour” concept one step further. Whereas in the past those customers could only play The Game as a single team with their cell phone acting as a tour guide, now they can split up into multiple teams to compete against each other like they would in a normal scavenger hunt.
This format is ideal for large groups, anywhere from 10 to 100 people, that would prefer to split up into multiple teams. It lends itself to large tour groups, school groups, corporate team-building, birthday parties, and other types of private events.
New York: The Game is a Scavenger Hunt Tour you play using your cell phone. You receive text message challenges that take you to interesting spots around the City. As you complete each challenge you receive fun facts about New York and its history. You can start any time. You just buy tickets on the Stray Boots website, then activate your phone whenever you are ready to “play.”
The ability for multiple teams to play competitively feels more like a traditional scavenger hunt, but it actually still includes all of the fun elements of Stray Boots Scavenger Hunt Tours. You still get all their challenges by text message that take you to fun spots around the City and receive little facts about the City for each challenge you complete. The only real difference is that you receive challenges in a different order than your adversaries.
Large group options are available in New York in Greenwich Village, Midtown, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Wall St. Stray Boots is also bringing large group options to the other cities it expands to in the coming months. It has also rolled out multi-team options in Las Vegas for its Center and South Strip tours, and plans to have similar functionality in Boston shortly after its coming March launch of Boston: The Game.
