Don't Just See New York...Play It...With New York:The Game!
Discover the newest, most interactive way to experience New York:
a text message scavenger hunt through NYC’s most interesting sights and streets.
New York, NY, July, 2010 – How many of us lament about wanting to get outside and experience this great city we call home, but find ourselves confined to our couches or our neighborhood coffee shops? Lament no longer. New York: The Game takes the planning out of and puts the fun into exploring New York City by foot. Receive challenges right on your own cell phone and navigate the city to complete them. Challenges include solving riddles, taking pictures, and discovering hidden secrets about the City. Explore a new area of the City in a fun and different way, or check out your favorite neighborhood and discover things you never knew existed. The Game offers an entirely new, unique way to explore Manhattan that’s exciting and interesting for people of all ages, and great for groups of all sizes.
The Game features 10 Game Zones (8 neighborhoods, 2 museums) to choose from, so you can play all over Manhattan, in unfamiliar territory or right in your backyard. It’s been made totally convenient to your lifestyle: you can play using your own cell phone (any US phone and carrier works), and you can play on your own schedule and at your own pace (so make as many coffee, bathroom, martini, or shopping breaks as you’d like).
Tickets start at just $20 and can be purchased in quantities of 3 hours (enough to play one Game Zone), one day, or three days. Purchase tickets online at www.newyorkthegame.com or by phone (877-787-2929). Two-step instructions on activating your phone are sent via email. Send in your keyword, select your Game Zone of choice, and receive your first clue!
Stray Boots founder and CEO, Avi D. Millman, created New York: The Game, offering what he considers to be the most fun, engaging way to experience New York City. “The goal at Stray Boots is to make the experience of sightseeing fun in a way that other types of tours don't. By allowing you to interact with your environment, rather than just observe it, we’re bringing sightseeing into the 21st century,” says Millman.
Full List of Game Zones: Fifth Avenue, Midtown, Times Square, Greenwich Village, SoHo, Chinatown/Little Italy, Wall Street, Flatiron District, Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Natural History Museum.
You can purchase Express, Regular or Multi-Day Tickets. The difference between the Express, Regular and Multi-Day tickets are the amount of time you can play The Game. The Express is 3 hours, Regular is 1 day (24 hours), and Multi-Day is 3 days (72 hours). You can play as many of the 10 Game Zones as you'd like in that time. The Museums Only ticket is just that - only museums. It includes the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) and the American Museum of Natural History (and more to come). You have 3 days (72 hours) to play with the Museums Only ticket. Tickets range from $10.00 - $40.00. Rates are per person and do not include museum admission. You must purchase a ticket for everyone in your party.
