Stray Boots Tours Launches New Interactive "LA: The Game" Text Message-Guided Tours of the City

Los Angeles - August 18, 2011: Starting today, locals and visitors to Los Angeles will be able to drop the map and explore the city via their cell phones with the launch of Stray Boots' new LA: The Game interactive tours. Conducted through text message exchanges, the three preliminary city tours will cover the Hollywood, Venice Beach and Beverly Hills neighborhoods. The new tours will allow participants to explore three of LA's most iconic neighborhoods on foot at their own pace, at a fraction of the cost of traditional walking tours. With this launch, Los Angeles becomes the eighth American city in Stray Boots' growing portfolio of distinctive tours, it was announced today by Avi Millman, founder and CEO.

Accessible and best-seen on foot, the three initial tours will showcase:
  •     Venice Beach and its distinctly California sea-side lifestyle
  •     Beverly Hills' glamour and extravagance
  •     Hollywood's showbiz appeal, sights and history (kids and adult versions available)

By capitalizing on the interactivity, ease-of-use, and real-time editing capabilities of text messaging technology, Stray Boots provides users with not only a view of well-established tourist sites and attractions, but also access to the latest "insider" off-the-beaten-path gems.

Half scavenger hunt, half walking tour, each of the three L.A. neighborhood tours was individually developed by Stray Boots experts on the ground. Neighborhoods were meticulously explored to highlight local nuances that give each area of the city its distinct personality. Participants discover these local charms through the game clues and fast facts given at the completion of each challenge.

How it works:
Participants register for a tour by visiting www.LATheGame.com and purchasing a ticket. Once payment is confirmed, a message is sent to the user's email address with an activation code and the tour's start location. Following text-message prompts, participants are guided with riddles, puzzles, photo opps and trivia questions to fun points of interest along the tour's route. Each user response in the journey garners them points, making it possible to compete between groups of friends, family members, or pre-assigned teams. For a video demonstration click here.

At an introductory cost of $12 USD per ticket, the LA: The Game self-paced tour is a budget-friendly approach to the city and has a duration of approximately two-to-three hours. Once activated, participants have one month to finish the tour.
