This challenge is way more than just laughs (although there will be plenty of those). It’s a high-energy, hands-on team-building experience that taps into communication, problem-solving, resource management, and teamwork under pressure. It’s the perfect way to break down silos, boost morale, and create some unforgettable memories. Whether your boat sinks or sails, your team will come out stronger.
Fun, Energizing, and Strategic Team Building — All Inside!
A hilarious, hands-on team-building competition where your team designs, builds, and races a cardboard boat... that hopefully floats. The event kicks off with a fun intro and some ground rules from your professional Strayboots facilitator. Teams of 4–8 people are given all the materials they’ll need — cardboard, tape, markers, scissors, and a lot of creativity. They’ll have about 45–60 minutes to sketch, plan, and build a boat that can carry one team member across a pool, lake, or other safe body of water.

FAQ: The Strayboots Cardboard Boat Challenge

The full experience usually runs between 2 to 2.5 hours. This includes the kickoff and instructions, team planning and construction time, and the boat races themselves. We can also adjust the timing to fit your schedule if needed.
Nope — we’ve got it covered! Strayboots provides all the building materials: cardboard, tape, cutting tools, and markers. We’ll even bring extras just in case your team has big ideas (or backup plans!).
You’ll need an outdoor location with a safe body of water — like a pool, lake, or beach area — plus enough dry space for the teams to build. If you're unsure about your venue, we’re happy to advise or suggest locations.
Absolutely. We go over safety instructions at the start, and only allow team members to enter the water in controlled, shallow areas. Life jackets can be provided, and our facilitators keep everything safe, fun, and organized.
That’s part of the fun! Whether your boat sinks, flips, or sails to victory, the laughs and team bonding are guaranteed. Sinking doesn’t mean you're out — teams can still earn points for design, creativity, and team spirit!
